What is Mealshare?
Mealshare is a national social enterprise that allows people to turn their dining out into helping out. To restaurant customers, Mealshare is simple: For every Mealshare item purchased, one meal is provided to a youth in need.
How does Mealshare work?
For each โMealshare itemโ sold, restaurants donate to Mealshare. We then distribute funds to a partner charity to provide one meal to a child or youth in need.
The Impact
Across Canada, Mealshare has already provided more than 1 million meals to youth in need โ over 25,000 of which have been shared in Ottawa, through charity partners Operation Come Home and the Boys and Girls Club of Ottawa.
How Random Hacks of Kindness Can Help
Mealshare is always looking for ways to amplify our impact on youth hunger: from welcoming more restaurants into our family of socially-conscious partners to volunteering with our charity partners, we take a holistic approach to solving youth hunger. With RHoK, we want to explore how we can make it easier for restaurants to join the Mealshare program and for partners to volunteer with our charities.
With the busy nature of the restaurant industry, eliminating a few extra steps to join our program and volunteer will allow us to feed more youth in need in Ottawa and around the world!
